Even though I have been playing guitar for 20 years at this stage I can still remember very clearly feeling the impossibility of trying to play an F Major barre chord. When I first tried it my immediate thought was that it was completely impossible, physically impossible, for my fingers to form a chord shape in such a way that sounds pleasing. Many of the strings were muted because I have not yet built up the required strength in my left hand in order to push all six strings down with equal pressure. Pick a note. For example, you picked A on the 2nd string, 10th fret. Use your index to play the note and push and pull the string using your entire arm. Do it softly and slightly to avoid detuning. Play the same note, try using the finger instead of the whole arm to push and pull the string slightly. This would cause its pitch to wobble. That is vibrato.
